Theresa Daytner

Theresa Alfaro Daytner, CEO of Daytner Construction Group, has always had
entrepreneurial passion. She has spent a lifetime preparing and searching for the
right product or service to build a business around.

After graduating high school, Ms Daytner decided that studying accounting would be a good foundation for understanding the internal workings of a successful business.

She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting at the University of Maryland in
1989, after giving birth to her first child and her first business.

That first venture was a residential roofing company and Ms. Daytner wore all the
hats a typical small business owner wears – CFO, CEO, saleswoman, estimator and
most importantly, laborer. She continued to run this company while taking a full-
time position with a prominent Washington, DC CPA firm and gained valuable
exposure to successful organizations and their leaders.

Next on the journey was working as a Project Accountant for a large, regional
General Contractor; again, to gain experience in the daily operations of an
established and successful business enterprise. Then, in 1991, Ms. Daytner passed
the CPA exam and hung out her shingle as a business consultant and tax
practitioner. During the 11 years she was engaged in her practice, she helped many
start-ups fulfill their entrepreneurial dreams by developing strong business plans and
sound financial objectives. In 1996 Ms. Daytner was awarded “Entrepreneur of the
Year” by the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce.

Finally, in January 2003, Ms. Daytner launched The Daytner Corporation, now doing
business as Daytner Construction Group (DCG). DCG is a construction management
and consulting firm, primarily acting as the Owner’s Representative on commercial
construction projects ranging from $10M to $75M in scope.

Since 2003, the company has overseen projects such as a white water rafting
course, dormitories, parking garages, biomedical labs, churches, classroom buildings,
recreational facilities and office buildings.

Ms. Daytner has also developed strategic alliances with complimentary companies in
order to expand DCG’s scope of services, geographic reach and capacity. Being a
member of Vistage, a CEO Roundtable organization, formerly known as TEC, and
also an alumni of several Executive Education programs at Dartmouth University’s
Tuck School of Business, Ms Daytner enjoys being a lifelong learner.
