Anthony W. McCarthy

For nearly two decades Anthony McCarthy has been a constant voice in journalism, public policy circles, and Maryland’s progressive faith community. He has hosted three award-winning radio talk shows and has served as an advisor to numerous political leaders. Currently he is the host of The Anthony McCarthy Show on WEAA 88.9 FM.

Anthony was the youngest journalist named Editor-in-Chief of the historic AFRO-American Newspapers. He is also the former associate publisher of The Baltimore Times.

In addition to his current weekly news and public affairs talk show, Anthony blogs for The Baltimore Sun’s CharmCityCurrent.com and offers commentary and political analysis on numerous social issues.

He has worked in public relations, marketing, public policy and communications for Rev. Jesse Jackson, U.S. Senator Charles Robb, former Virginia Governor Douglas Wilder, Mayor Kurt L. Schmoke, Congressman Elijah E. Cummings and Mayor Sheila Dixon.

He serves on several boards and commissions including the Baltimore NAACP, Centro de la Communidad, Maryland Center for Arts and Technology, the Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Billy Holiday House, Inc.
Anthony is an ordained minister and travels as a consultant and speaker on issues of race, sexual orientation, and civil rights.
